Funnel Pages

I love searching around --- looking at what is out there information,  images--- its all here --- which really isn't news. But what is news is this wonderful exhibit I happened on  while reading about guilds and tapestry.The exhibit is in Philadelphia and reviewed on the site   Funnel Pages  is very interesting in  imagery   and idea created from tapestry.   So much depth and movement   these tapestries are really beautiful.  Check it out. 

notes on Truth and Beauty

Our day at school in 2 minutes --ish

Finally feeling like I am getting my footing as the second half of the school year begins and marches forward. I thought I would video the day as we move through process, ideas and materials. The sequence is like this--- 6th grade: Exploration of Color-- 5th grade: Figures in Motion--- 4th Grade: 2 point perspective cityscapes on overhead projector film--- 3rd grade: 1 point perspective Buildings---- 2nd grade: Coil Pots--- 1st grade : Clay Bells . Analogous Horses created by the artists in the 3rd grade

WHOA!!!!!! These horses are just beautiful! The students in the 3rd grade classes studied analogous color schemes during the 1st trimester. While using chalk pastels, we explored color in painting and drawing. The students learned how to draw a horse in motion; then created their running horses on large paper. The students then chose a color scheme that was analogous to a primary base color -for example the yellow color family, red color family or blue color family. After making their choice the students painted in their drawings using chalk pastel. To culminate our work, we reflected on the process of creating horses through writing an artists statement. Wonderful work!!!

3rd grade ---In process architecture explorations

So last night at dinner my boyfriend asked where I got the idea to start making paintings of buildings. I said I didn't know ... well what wonderful winter break I've had because when I got back to school and began to download my video I found this little movie of my third graders working on their buildings.
